Washington has lost another one of it's good guys.
Former Press Secretary Tony Snow passed away last Saturday from colon cancer that had spread to his liver. He was 53.
Snow was also known for his role as TV host on several shows on the Fox News Channel, particularly FOX News Sunday, of which he was the first host, and Weekend Live. He was also a radio talk-show host. He had his own show, The Tony Snow Show, and he regularly filled in for Rush Limbaugh from about the mid-1990s on. In his early career, he was a newspaper man, having written for The Greensboro Record in North Carolina, and The Virginian-Pilot in Norfolk, Virginia. He was also a chief speechwriter for President George H.W. Bush.
In April 2006, President George W. Bush tapped Snow to serve in the office of press secretary, replacing Scott McClellan. In my opinion, he was the most competent of the press secretaries chosen by President Bush up until that time. He did his job well, and he did it with humor. Snow decided to leave his position in August 2007. Dana Perino would go on to succeed Snow in this role.
Snow, a native of Berea, Kentucky, was also an avid musician.
He will be missed, and his passing is a loss for those looking for good men and women in Washington. His family needs to be in our thoughts and prayers.
