CORZINE FINDS WEIGHT TO BE A MAJOR ISSUE!
Weight.
That's right, he is apparently finding time to criticize his main opponent, Republican former attorney Chris Christie, about his stature and weight, while his state is suffering from a strongly depressed economy, major crime issues, and unpopular high property taxes, he seems to find an opponent's physical appearance worth taking out his time on.
Talk about negative campaigning at its worst!
Things aren't much better in the realm of campaigning from the Democrat in the race for Governor of Virginia. There, the nominee is state senator Criegh Deeds, and he is not gaining any traction in the race. That even though he has been preceded by two Democrats in the Governors Mansion, and his state has two Democratic U.S. Senators and the state voted for Obama by a solid margin. However, Deeds is not coming up with concise plans on the state's big issues, particularly the transportation situation, jobs, taxes and other economic issues.
Rather, he is running ads on a regular basis on a particular issue that should be a non-issue. He is focusing on his opponent, former Republican State Attoney General Bob McDonnell's thesis from graduate school that apparently holds some controversial views. Rather than focusing on the crucial issues at hand, like McDonnell is, he is so insecure about his chances that he would rather look back at the past and keep that his focal point.
No wonder why our nation can't move forward. The candidates from the party who wields all the power still has to go below the belt in its campaigns.

YOU DON'T NEED PRIMETIME TV - JUST WATCH THE ACTION AROUND THE SENATE APPOINTMENTS
By far, the biggest news about an appointment surrounds the scandal on Democratic Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich. The already scandal-tainted governor has decided that a responsibility to fill a vacant seat has instead become an opportunity. That is, an opportunity to either make some money out of it by putting it up for sale for favors, or appointing himself to the seat and positioning himself for a run for the U.S. Presidency in 2016.
This an an appalling and disgusting reflection on why many Americans have become tired of the political process. Instead of viewing government for what it is supposed to be - a limited body trying to help society move along smoothly - some officials see it as an opportunity to benefit themselves. Truly disgusting! Even though I find political watching a hobby, and I am a political science major at Tennessee Tech, even I get tired of the mess and find a lot of the elected officials truly revolting.
In New York, it isn't scandals that are the theme. It is rock star status that is looking to find its way into the Senate seat Clinton will probably vacate.
News first surfaced a couple of weeks ago that Caroline Kennedy, daughter of the late President John F. Kennedy, is interested in positioning herself to be appointed by Democratic Governor David Paterson. She has not yet said for sure, however, that she wants the post.
Someone else who has surfaced as being even more interested is former Nanny star Fran Drescher, who has been vocal about her ambition to be appointed.
If either one is appointed, it would show that star power prevails over actual service, as New York Attorney General Andrew Cuomo actually is more qualified with his history of service.
Don't worry about turning on the TV set for primetime shows. The drama, and even the comedy, around the appointments to fill one, and likely soon two, vacant Senate seats is very much better than anything you'll find on NBC or CBS.
Stay tuned...

Clinton And Edwards Conspire To Push Aside Long-Shot Rivals
I expect this from Clinton, because she has done this sort of thing in the past, when she was in the White House as first lady. Edwards surprises me a bit, though. I guess I shouldn't be surprised, as the Democrats' leaders are all pretty shady creatures. I believe all who are the more serious contenders should be allowed in the debates. We can't possibly have all the dozens from each party who are in the race in public debates, but up to 15 contenders certainly can't hurt. Just make the debates longer if you have to. Personally, I want the nominees from the Constitution, Libertarian, and even the Green Party, along with the major independents, in the debates when the general election comes around. It is only fair, and these third party and even the long shots during the primary contests have a lot to offer in debating the major issues of the day. Many times, the long shot candidates have more sense on the issues than a lot of the top contenders. I would hate to see Tancredo, Hunter, Tommy Thompson, and Paul excluded from the GOP debates. They have brought a lot of good ideas to the table, and have entertained us probably more than the chief contenders most of the time.
It is great that Mike Gravel has been allowed to participate in the debates. He has been the most fun Democrat to watch, especially when he attacks the front-runners. His creativism and his excitement are about the only things worth watching on the Dems' side of this race. That can be seen in this video.

Clinton Was Good For The Economy?
1. BILL WAS GOOD FOR THE ECONOMY.
If he was good for the economy, why did the economy begin to falter at the end of his term. That's right, Bill Clinton was still President in 2000, when Wall Street began to decline steeply in the first quarter of the year. Wall Street usually follows economic numbers. In that case, the economic numbers would have had to started a decline sometime in 1999. There was even a sharp decline for the major Wall Street indexes on one day in April 2000. In 1998, worldwide stock selloffs rippled over here to the U.S. One of the centers of that selloff was Red China, a country that Bill Clinton tied us to even more strongly than past administrations. His drive for more economic ties to Red China has actually hurt the economy more than helped. Most of the American jobs that fled to Red China have done so after Bill's policies with Red China were put into action. We all know that loss of American jobs, especially of the magnitude we have seen in the last 15 years, is disastrous for our economy. Now, I want to make it clear that I am not a George Bush fan. In his own right, he has hurt the American economy by not working to solve the problems with Red China and with illegal immigrants who have taken jobs. He has actually accelerated these two disasters. However, the economic slump through the first few years of the 21st century are not Bush's fault, but the fault of his predecessor, William Jefferson Clinton.
2. BILL AND TERRORISM AND THE WAR.
September 11th and the ongoing war in Afghanistan and Iraq did not happen under the Clinton administration. However, a lot of the blame should fall under his administration if the account of the official story is correct. First thing, Osama bin Laden (What's with the Usama thing) is generally believed to be the "mastermind" behind the 9-11 attacks. Bill Clinton could have made it a priority to have him caught (his administration did know where he was at least once during his Presidency). Clinton was supposedly concerned about Osama, and a USA Today front page in the late 1990s showed that Osama was planning to assassinate Bill Clinton. If everything would have progressed as generally believed, and if Osama was caught, 9-11 would not have happened.
Secondly, the war in Iraq. I do not agree with the war there. I never could see its connection with September 11th. If you are going to charge Saddam with connection to terrorists, than you have to charge Russia, Saudi Arabia (where bin Laden is originally from), China and a number of other countries with ties to terrorism and we would have about as much right to go fight them. The U.S. is not the police force of the world, and I don't believe we should be about the business of getting involved in other countries' affairs to dispose of dictators. If we should do that, then we should go down to Cuba and do just that. Cuba has more of an effect on U.S. affairs than Iraq, other than oil. However, the fact is that we are in Iraq, and progress in being made, according to soldiers that I have talked to. What would have helped us to get this over quickly, though. A stronger national defense, one which Bill Clinton weakened during his administration.
It looks to me like the argument that Bill Clinton was good for the economy is full of fluff. I didn't even add the other reasons why he could have been worse for the economy, including universal health care. Imagine what would happen if his other half would be elected next year. Ouch!

A Quick Thought On The Democrats Being The "Party Of The Little People".
How about this idea? Why don't we end abortion, while allowing only immigrants in who will become U.S. citizens? If we allowed all of those 42 million babies to live, we wouldn't have to worry about a shortfall of American workers. Whoever accomplishes this goal will surely be the party of the "little people". The Dems are certainly NOT going down this road now.
THE DEMS ARE NOT THE PARTY OF THE "LITTLE GUY"!
