Hello folks! I understand that it has been a while since I have even wrote a post, much less regularly spent time sharing articles and my views through this blog. That is about to change. We are at a time in our nation and in our culture where those who have knowledge of the threats to our freedom and our values must keep people informed, and be involved themselves. With knowledge comes responsibility to act!
I started this blog over 7 years ago for that reason, but have rarely posted and shared news in about the last 3 years since I have graduated Tennessee Tech University. We are entering a huge year with big implications on the line for our nation, values, economy, and our future in general.
With that being said, this blog will again be a place where you can find information regarding current events, breaking news and analysis of the issues of the day. I will be updating the links and features on the home page as well.
Thank you for your interest and I hope you will be back regularly!

BACK AGAIN
I am back again and ready to post on happenings in this crucial Presidential election year. A lot of things have happened in this nation, and in my life, since I last posted after the 2010 midterms. I look forward to posting updates here as often as possible regarding the election year. Hope you'll stay tuned!

LACK OF POSTS
I do apologize for a lack of posts last night. Although I intended to post regularly through the evening, I was a part of election night, as I had the great experience of spending it at the victory party of our new congressman-elect, Diane Black. She is the first Republican to represent Tennessee's Sixth District in known history!
I now intend to get some posts coming out today and in the following days as the dust settles on the history made last night. One important post to come here is a recap of the state legislative races. I have been looking at the numbers from the states, and I am stunned the national media isn't giving the fallout on these races more attention. In many states, a once closely partisan body has now broken strongly to the GOP. The fallout of the great gains in the state legislative races and in the governor's mansions holds great implications for the Presidential campaign of 2012 and in redistricting which affects the next decade or more. I will be working on this in the next day or so.

WELCOME TO OUR NEW FORMAT
Readers of this blog will see a new change to the format and the name. The decision was made to focus this blog on the 2010 midterm elections, their impact on the 2012 campaigns, and the importance these elections hold for the direction our nation goes from here. No one who is following these developments doubts the importance these elections hold for our culture, our pocketbooks, our security, our way of life.
Because of this, I am pledging to attempt in my busy life to make an attempt here to report and document on the events in the coming days. I will not be able to post on all the big races, for I am active in this election myself in several ways, but I will make a good effort to post as much as possible.
I encourage you to come back often throughout the next few days as I share what I learn from this day and I share with you the facts I find and my own take on the events as they happen. Have a great Decision Eve and Decision Day!

HAPPY INDEPENDENCE DAY!

Happy Independence Day from your Conservative Statesman! I hope all of you have a safe and great time today, but please DO NOT FORGET what this day really represents and celebrates. The cookouts and the parades and the ballgames and the fireworks all all exciting, and we have a great time with our families. All of that is great, but let's not forget that this day is set apart because it represents liberty, and the founding of our great nation. We remember all of the patriots, in the armed forces and everyday citizens, who have given blood, sweat and tears to ensure the success of this nation and to the cause of freedom.
I want to personally thank God, the Lord of Abraham, Issac, and Jacob, for this great country and all the blessings and opportunities He has given me through her. May He continue to bless this great nation, and our crucial work to preserve her and the work for liberty.
HAPPY 233rd BIRTHDAY AMERICA!

A SLEW OF POSTINGS TO COME!
Hey all! I know I have been MIA as of the last few months. However, the spring semester is out, and I have a host of postings to place on here in the coming days. It may seem like old news by now, but there are several events that I find important and want to comment on. Also, several influential people have passed on that I want to pay tribute to.
It may seem odd for me to go back to events a couple of months old, but I want to get them represented on this blog, and put my two-cents in on them. So, keep your eyes peeled to the "Conservative Statesman" as I post these observations in the next few days.

HAPPY VETERANS DAY!

You didn't think I was going to let Veterans Day pass without a recognition of our great veterans, did you?
Thank God for all of our fantastic men and women willing to give up blood, sweat and tears for our great country, the best God has given man. It is because of the sacrifice of these men and women that I have the blessing of going to Tennessee Tech, the opportunity to better myself financially, to be able to run this blog without persecution from the Feds, and, most importantly, the great freedom to be able to worship the Creator without being imprisoned by officials.
These men and women go through tremendous stress to see to it that their countrymen have what our Founding Fathers set forth well over 200 years ago. Under even more stress and heartache are the families of the servicemen. Because of this, and because they are willing to put all on the line for YOU, be sure to thank a serviceman when you see him or her on the street, in your favorite restaurant, in the grocery store, and in anyplace you are. Let them know you appreciate what they are doing. Let the families know you appreciate their sacrifice, and that you are keeping the families in prayer. It means more to them than you will know!
God bless the armed forces of the United States! We are blessed to have such patriots among us every day!

The CONSERVATIVE STATESMAN On Change
The 'bumper-sticker' word of this election cycle is change. Actually, that seems to be the catch word during every election cycle from the candidates that aren't the incumbent.
Here's how I look at change. We all want change. I want change, too. I want the kind of change that rests in my pocket. The Democrats won't bring that kind of change. Their party wants that kind of change in their own pockets.

Happy Independence Day!

The Conservative Statesman wishes each of you a happy Independence Day! While we are out grilling, watching fireworks, and attending parades, let us not forget the true meaning of today.
We live in "the best country God has given man", in the true words of talk-show host Sean Hannity. Too many people wrongly criticize America for all the wrongs in the world. Actually, quite the opposite is true. We have contributed far more to this planet than we have taken away.
I was just speaking with a man by the name of Carlos the other day. Carlos is originally from Angola, but has been living in Tennessee for seven years. Carlos told me that this country is still the best place for freedom and opportunity in the world. When I told him of the sentiment from some that this country is "too-far-gone", or that we are a great contributor of evil in the world, his response was, "Oh, they should not say that".
My grandfather emigrated here from the Ukraine after World War II. I can look back and see the kind of progress in his life, and in the lives of all of his offspring. His achievements, and those of his descendants, could not have been accomplished in another country as greatly as they have been done here.
Let's take some time today to remember how blessed we are to live in this land. We truly live in "the best country God has given man"!

HAPPY VETERANS DAY!

I know the day is almost gone, but I want to take a moment to recognize some of the best people God has given America, her veterans. They have made a huge sacrifice to ensure that the lives we live in our great nation continue on. Anytime you see a veteran, let them know that you are grateful for their sacrifice. They really appreciate that. I know firsthand that they do, as I have seen them get excited when someone recognizes their service.
GOD BLESS AMERICA'S VETERANS!

I'm Back....But For Only A Short Time.
I have returned from New Orleans. It was a good trip, but it is not an area I'd really like to live in. I am back for just a short time. On Sunday morning, I will leave early for a week-long trip to Short Mountain Bible Camp, as I mentioned earlier. There will be no computers that I can use there, so this will probably be my last few postings until Friday at the earliest.
There are several interesting stories and issues that came out recently, so I want to touch on them before I go. You can read them in the postings above this one.

I'll Be Away The Next Two Weeks.
If any big news happens over the next two weeks, and any readers are curious why I haven't posted my take on it, that is because I'll be away.
I will be traveling down to New Orleans shortly, and God willing, I'll be there until Thursday.
The following Sunday morning, I'll be leaving for Short Mountain Bible Camp in Woodbury, Tennessee, about an hour and a half southeast of Nashville, depending on which road you take. I will again have a responsibility as a youth counselor this year, and I am looking forward to it. SMBC is a place I deeply respect and support. If any readers have a place where they want to send their kids, or if any readers are camp age and are interested, I'd highly recommend it! The ages are 9-19, and the season ranges from early June until about August. If interested, let me know through the comments at the bottom of this post. I will be there this year until Friday evening.
I expect Fred Thompson to officially declare his intention to run for President over these next two weeks. I may have access to a computer over the next week, but I am not yet sure on that. I hope to post about a Fred announcement as soon as possible after his official announcement. Just keep your eyes here, and I will post again as soon as possible, or as soon as events warrant it.

Happy Independence Day And Happy 231st Birthday America!

I want to wish everyone a Happy Independence Day and I want to wish the United States a happy 231st birthday! I didn't want to post this so late, but I was on the go all through the day. I know, though, that it is never too late to give patriotic wishes, though. I hope everyone took at least a little bit of time through the family, cookouts, fireworks, and baseball games to remember what this day actually represents. Although we need to daily remember the sacrifice for our country, appreciate the freedoms we enjoy, and be vigilant and ready to defend our freedoms (on the battlefield or in dispute with a lib) against all the threats we face, July 4th of every year allows us a set time that we can do these things. I hope you have enjoyed another July 4th and remember that we live in the best country God has given Man!

A Good Memorial Day To You!
I want to wish all readers a blessed Memorial Day! I want to thank those who served in the armed forces for all the service they have done for us. America would not exist if it weren't for these great, heroic men and women! Although Google doesn't seem to be appreciative and doesn't honor Memorial Day, that doesn't mean that I can't take the opportunity to do what I can to show my honor of the armed forces.

My Talk Seems Not To Have Changed
Although I have been living in Middle Tennessee for over 11 years, I guess my "accent" has not changed all that much. This is the result of a quiz on http://www.gotoquiz.com/, under the section, "What American accent do you have?" Maybe all the cheesesteaks I eat and the Phils' games I watch have something to do with it. Aah, probably not.
What American accent do you have? Your Result: Philadelphia Your accent is as Philadelphian as a cheesesteak! If you're not from Philadelphia, then you're from someplace near there like south Jersey, Baltimore, or Wilmington. if you've ever journeyed to some far off place where people don't know that Philly has an accent, someone may have thought you talked a little weird even though they didn't have a clue what accent it was they heard. | |

AND THE LEFT EXPECTS US TO LISTEN TO THEM!
WorldNetDaily is reporting something appalling today. Since when did someone's serious illness become political. Well, apparently the left is treating White House Press Secretary Tony Snow's cancer situation that way. Not only that, they are dropping F-Bombs and all kind of profanity his way. Not that I completely agree with Tony Snow, but I don't know of anyone who is deserving of that kind of treatment. Even Al Gore, Hillary Clinton, and Barack Obama, who, from what I can see, are some of the worst people in "leadership" today, if they came down with some deadly disease, you wouldn't see me wishing death upon them with a ****. I guess that is a big difference between them and those of us who are Christians, we don't wait for an illness and start wishing death upon those who oppose us. Then again, the left doesn't even wait for illness. They start spreading profanity about everyone they oppose at every opportunity.
It just makes me sick to see someone fighting cancer, then they have to see people with such hatred spewing their profane venom against them. Well, I guess we'll have to leave that to God.
Visit this link to the article, and anyone in their right mind will be just as appalled as I am.
Keep Tony Snow, Elizabeth Edwards, and all those who are suffering from horrible diseases in your prayers! They suffer physically, emotionally and even more so when crazies spew out venom towards them!
GOD BE WITH ALL OF YOU THROUGH YOUR STRUGGLES!

Eventful Week To End 2006!
It has been an eventful week to end 2006. In the last seven days, we have witnessed the passing of a major entertainer of the middle part of the last century, and the passing of a man of great integrity who served as President during the remainder of Richard Nixon's 1973-1977 term. The world witnessed the execution of an evil dictator as Iraq now seems able to execute justice. A Presidential contender from 2004 announced he will try it again in 2008, and he will arguably be the Democratic Party's frontrunner. A major Western city was hit again with another snowstorm, a week after receiving over a foot of snow. That storm has, also, caused snowstorms across much of the Central region of our country and severe weather in the Deep South. Meanwhile, the Dow Industrails reached another all-time high and the country's largest telecommunications company (AT&T) officially got bigger by finalizing a purchase of a smaller rival (BellSouth).
We look to be setting up for an exciting and eventful 2007, so stay with the "Conservative Statesman". I intend to be here, Lord willing, posting on whatever seems interesting all through the year. We are going into the year before what is likely to be one of the biggest, and most important, Presidential elections in our history and I hope to report on this event as it unfolds. So, please stay with us and tell everyone you know about this site. I am not writing only for myself!

Update
I know I have not been posting for about two weeks. I am currently visiting my native area of Berks County, Pennsylvania for Christmas week. I hope everyone had a blessed Christmas and be sure to have a good new year! I am watching for John Edwards's announcement expected on Thursday when he is likely to announce his candidacy for the White House in 2008. Also, I am looking forward to my Tennessee Tech Golden Eagles taking on two big name schools within the week. The men are to face the Tennessee Volunteers on Thursday, while the women are scheduled to face high-ranked North Carolina on Saturday. It looks to be a busy week! I expect to be back to my Tennessee ritual by New Year's Eve. Until then, take care, God bless, and happy new year again.

Yours Truly

I just thought all those reading might like to know who I am. This photo was taken last week in the Roaden University Center's lobby on the campus of Tennessee Tech University in Cookeville, Tennessee. It was taken as a requirement of my website project mentioned in an earlier post. The project was part of my DS 2810 (Introduction To Computers In Business) course at Tech.
