Vodka Maker Harkens Back To A "More Ideal" Time For Our Neighbor To The South, Not So Ideal For Americans

Absolut, a well-known vodka maker, created a stir in the United States when one of their recent ads drew up an 1830s-era map of North America, showing United States territory under Mexico jurisdiction.

The ad comes at a time when the United States is facing a serious debate over illegal immigration, and whose people are wanting to see the borders secured. Meanwhile, a majority of Mexicans believe the Southwest U.S. still is rightfully theirs.

Absolut has since apologized for the ad, which ran only in Mexico, and have since ended them. The company said the ad wasn't reflective of any immigration or foreign policy issues.

The ad created a bit of an outcry by angry Americans who saw the ad as encouraging a radical mindset that many Mexicans hold that the border states are still rightful territory of Mexico. Conservative columnist Michelle Malkin received a number of e-mails and blog postings reflecting anger over the ad.

I do not support consumption of any alcohol, but if I did, I would still be supporting a full boycott of Absolut. I am in opposition to all groups who support the return of our Southwestern states to Mexico, and this ad only fuels their fire.

Senator Bob Corker Visits Cookeville...And Hears What's On Everyday People's Minds

Tennessee Senator Bob Corker is spending his recess like I hope and believe other members of Congress are, visiting with his constituents. Today, his journey around Tennessee brought him to Cookeville, my hometown, right smack-in-between Nashville, Knoxville, and Chattanooga.

He visited at least 60-70 constituents from Cookeville/Putnam County, and the surrounding areas, at the Baymont Inn just off of Interstate 40. He greeted those who were there, who ranged from members of the Tennessee Republican Party to members of the press to everyday citizens, such as myself. I even got my picture with him from campaigning last year autographed. That was exciting! I got to speak with him for a time, not something that everyone gets to do.

After about 15 minutes greeting those who were there, he spoke for maybe twenty minutes. Issues mentioned mostly focused around his experiences in his new job as Senator, health care, the Senate immigration bill that was defeated earlier this year, and the Energy Bill that was recently debated upon on Capitol Hill.

Then, the floor was opened for questions. This is when it got real exciting. I opened it by asking Mr. Corker's position on the "Fairness Doctrine", and what Washington is doing about it. He told us that he opposes anything that messes around with free speech on the radio. He gets points with me on that. He already had points from me, and from the vast majority of the crowd, for helping to defeat the Senate Immigration Proposal. Another question followed, this one from a parent in Jackson County, just to the north of Cookeville. He told of his son's dire education needs, and how the county public school system only made them worse. He wondered why politicians are always trying to throw money at the situation, while schools continue to falter in the quality of education given. Health care questions were later asked. Mr. Corker said he completely opposes a universal health system like the liberal Democrats are proposing, and considers such a proposal dangerous. He scored more points with me there.

However, the most crucial, and exciting, questions came on the subject of China, and of illegal immigration. On China, one woman let her strong concerns on recalled products, from toothpaste to animal food to tires to recently recalled toys, be known. She let her strong concern for American jobs known, as well. At least two men also joined her in expressing their concerns over the quickly growing Chinese threat. Their comments expressing patriotism in American jobs and the seriousness of the Chinese threat drew applause on several occasions. On illegal immigration, a few people spoke on the importance of American culture, and how it is seriously damaged by the culture clash we are now facing. They spoke on the seriousness of becoming a citizen when you come here. One brought up the stat that 24 people a day are killed by illegal aliens in various reasons. I believe he said that amounted to 50,000 DEAD FROM ILLEGAL ALIENS SINCE 9/11! That is way more than this war in Iraq has killed. On illegal immigration, the comments from people in the crowd again drew applause on numerous occasions.

Tonight, I again saw how important illegal immigration is to America's citizens. Not only that, but I saw how important China is to our fellow countrymen as well. My grandmom told us today that some of the toy shelves in her hometown, and my native city, of Reading, Pennsylvania, are becoming bare after the recalls of toys, particularly by Mattel. In the company's major announcement yesterday, they pointed out that more recalls are likely to follow. This on top of the news that an antifreeze ingredient was found in toothpaste earlier this year, and that pet food was poisoned, and that seafood is treated in raw sewage. These are all products from China that I am speaking of, a supposed "ally". I have not considered China a friend for as long as I can remember, and I think it would be insane to do so. Mark my words, China will become on of the premier issues in the not-to-distant future, and will likely become the primary foreign affairs issue, and threat. It is already shaping up to be a 2008 Presidential issue, and with good reason. We have now come to a dire situation with Red China. If we suddenly and completely pull our economic ties, we risk war. However, if we continue to buy Chinese products, not only do we risk harming ourselves, but we risk creating Red China to be the world's supreme superpower. Then, they will see the world as their playground, and we would risk war. China is a more grave threat than many Americans, and other people of the world, realize. If something is not done, and soon, I see dark clouds ahead for this generation, and the ones to follow.

I want to close this out on a better note. Mr. Corker has already collected a lot of points from me on his stand on the issues. There is no mistake that he is a general, all-around conservative. I believe we are blessed to have someone in Washington who stands against amnesty to illegals, against universal health care, against the silencing of conservative talk-radio, and for family values. I believe, too, that he will be a voice for America in our relations against our most grave outside threat, Communist Red China.

Where We Stand On The Amnesty Bill

Over at Save The GOP, they have a pretty good list of where we stand on votes against cloture on the "Senate Immigration Compromise", or better known as the Amnesty Bill. According to the National Review, it looks like the cloture motion, and thus the bill's return from the dead, will be on Tuesday, and NR says we have "32 pretty solid No votes for cloture". That means that there appears to be 32 guys (and girls) on our side.

Those 32 are:
Alexander (R-Tenn.)
Allard (R-Colo.)
Baucus (D-Mont.)
Byrd (D-W.Va.)
Bunning (R-Ky.)
Chambliss (R-Ga.)
Coburn (R-Okla.)
Corker (R-Tenn.)
Cornyn (R-Texas)
Crapo (R-Idaho)
DeMint (R-S.C.)
Dole (R-N.C.)
Dorgan (D-N.D.)
Enzi (R-Wyo.)
Grassley (R-Iowa)
Hutchison (R-Texas)
Inhofe (R-Okla.)
Isakson (R-Ga.)
Landrieu (D-La.)
McCaskill (D-Mo.)
Pryor (D-Ark.)
Roberts (R-Kan.)
Rockefeller (D-W.Va.)
Sanders (I-Vt.)
Sessions (R-Ala.)
Shelby (R-Ala.)
Smith (R-Ore.)
Stabenow (D-Mich.)
Sununu (R-N.H.)
Tester (D-Mont.)
Thune (R-S.D.)
Vitter (R-La.)

NR says that there are 12 senators that lean against the bill, but lean towards yes on cloture. That, in turn, would be support for amnesty. Since these are on the fence, they just might be persuaded to join our side. Since we need eight more that the previously mentioned names, it would be good to persuade these guys and girls. Please dial those numbers, especially if these are your senators. Here are their names:
Bond (R-Mo.)
Bingaman (D-N.M.)
Burr (R-N.C.)
Boxer (D-Calif.)
Cochran (R-Miss.)
Conrad (D-N.D.)
Ensign (R-Nev.)
Levin (D-Mich.)
Gregg (R-N.H.)
Nelson (D-Neb.)
Hatch (R-Utah)
Webb (D-Va.).

As previously reported, Wyoming has a new Senator in John Barrasso. I am still unsure as to how he will vote, but my gut tells me that he will be on our side in this and he will vote no on Tuesday. Also, Senator Tim Johnson of South Dakota is still not in a good voting condition. Barring the situation where he will be brought in to vote on this (a national disgrace if this happens), that would be two more votes to our side. That means we would need at least seven of the 12 mentioned just above to go our direction. We need 41 senators to vote no on the cloture motion.

Also, word from Save The GOP says that Tom Coburn may not be able to vote, because he is recovering from surgery. Our prayers go out to Mr. Coburn for a good and speedy recovery. I have really gotten to like the man. He is a reliable patriot of America.

Lott: "Talk Radio Is Running America."

In another sign that GOP Senate leadership is buckling to the pressure from questions on the Senate amnesty bill, Mississippi Senator Trent Lott blasted talk radio. I say buckling because it seems that Lott had nowhere else to turn and couldn't find blame in himself or his peers in the Senate who support this horrible amnesty package. The New York Times has quoted him saying, “Talk radio is running America. We have to deal with that problem.” The blog Ankle Biting Pundits adds to the above: “I’m sure senators on both sides of the aisle are being pounded by these talk-radio people who don’t even know what’s in the bill,” Lott said. He added that the “leadership will have to be prepared to do what needs to be done.”
At some point, Mr. Lott said, Senate Republican leaders may try to rein in “younger guys who are huffing and puffing against the bill.”

I don't know what to say about Trent Lott. I won't even address him as Senator here. He has sold out the middle class American citizens, and especially conservatives. Therefore, he isn't worthy of a honorable title, in my opinion. The above quotes show him to be absolutely naive. Either that, or he is an absolute idiot.

Talk radio running America? That is a new one on me. Hollywood seems to have more of an influence on American life. Personally, I would take talk radio hands-down over the leftist, nasty influence of the Hollywood establishment. Lott probably isn't planning to run again, but even still, he has endangered his respect in the state he represents and for most of America's conservatives.

I can now see perhaps why Bill Frist was ready to oppose Trent Lott for Majority Leader. Frist had his own problems, namely with last year's amnesty bill. However, Frist probably could see the incompetence of Lott, which the man from Mississippi has shown in these statements.

Side note: For those, such as myself, who are not fond of cursing, excuse the cursing on the 'Ankle Biting Pundits' link. I do not support that, although I certainly can't blame the writer there for his strong anger. I am furious and frustrated by Lott's comments myself.

BREAKING NEWS!

VICTORY!

Senate Immigration Bill Appears Dead After Second Cloture Vote Fails To Move Bill Through.

Written by Jordan M. Iwanyszyn

After three weeks of heated concern by the American people, and of dealing and amending by U.S. Senators, the "bipartisan" immigration proposal appears dead tonight in the U.S. Senate.

In what should be described as a victory for conservatives and for the grassroots movement, the death of this bill will mean that amnesty will likely not yet be provided to the millions of illegal aliens already here.

Votes on cloture to push the bill along failed twice today. This morning, a cloture vote failed by a 63-33 margin. Later this evening, another cloture vote was taken, but again failed. This one failed by a much closer 50-45 vote, and it was 15 votes short of the 60 "ayes" needed to move the proposal along. Quickly, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nevada) pulled the bill from the floor. It seems we have won the battle, but we have not yet won the war. America should celebrate tonight, but also prepare for the next round the business interests, pandering politicians and special interest groups plan to pour on us. Reid insisted that the bill is not dead for the year, but Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Kentucky) doubted that "prospects would get better with the passage of time".

MSNBC's headline tonight read "All But Dead", referring to the bill's prospects. CNN and Fox News both called the proposal dead. NumbersUSA, an influential grassroots website on this issue, calls tonight's event a "victory". Team America PAC, a political action committee founded by Congressman Tom Tancredo to fight illegal immigration, wrote a headline that reads, "America Wins: Senate Sellout Stopped."

Reid appears out of touch with America. "There's lots of support for this program on the outside,'' Majority Leader Harry Reid, a Nevada Democrat, said after pulling the bill from the Senate floor in Washington. ``The problem was on the inside of this Senate chamber.'' He obviously doesn't realize from all the phone calls critical of this bill that the Americans on the street opposed this.

The footprint of this proposal is far from over, however. The political ramifications will continue to be felt and watched for some time. This defeat is primarily a defeat for President George W. Bush and the Senate architects, primarily Senators Kennedy, Specter, McCain and Graham. The one man who may be hurt most from this is the Arizona Senator John McCain, who is a 2008 Republican Presidential contender. RealClearPolitics shows McCain's average in the polls has slipped nearly 6 percent since the compromise was announced. At the same time, former Tennessee Senator Fred Thompson and former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney, both candidates for President who have blasted the proposal, continue to clime steadily in the poll averages. Another political future to watch next year because of this is that of Republican South Carolina Senator Lindsey Graham, who was an architect of the compromise and one of the 45 senators who voted tonight to end debate and pass the bill on. A primary challenge should be expected for him next year. Personally, I am hoping for a challenge to him and I would encourage it. In 2010, we should watch for a conservative primary challenger to the RINO Pennsylvania Senator Arlen Specter.

FOR A LOOK AT THE TWO CLOTURE VOTES CLICK HERE (This Morning's Vote) AND HERE (Tonight's Vote)! For a look at the votes on various amendments and a look at what has happened over the last three weeks, go to NumbersUSA's Action Center here.

For those in Tennessee, you should be happy to know that Senators Bob Corker and Lamar Alexander, both Republicans, voted the right way by voting no both times. For Pennsylvanians, my native state has very sour representation. Specter was a principal architect of the bill. The other senator, the Democrat Bob Casey, voted yes in both of today's votes. Casey last year defeated and replaced a principled statesman in Republican Rick Santorum, who would have almost certainly gone against this proposal.

REMEMBER, this is not over yet. This proposal looks dead, but the Benedict Arnolds who oppose America will certainly try again. We need to celebrate tonight, but continue to be vigilant for the next time this is tried. We defeated it now, we can certainly do it again with the same effort we have shown these last few weeks. If your senator voted against this proposal, don't forget to thank him. If he voted for it, let him know what you think of him on the phone, through e-mail, and through the ballot box the next time they run.

BE READY FOR THE NEXT TIME!

PRAISE GOD THAT THE 2007 SENATE IMMIGRATION PROPOSAL HAS GONE THE WAY OF THE 2006 DUBAI PORTS DEAL AND THE 2006 SENATE IMMIGRATION PROPOSAL!

CONSERVATIVES AND THE GRASSROOTS CAN DECLARE VICTORY IN A BATTLE TONIGHT, BUT THE WAR WILL RAGE ON AGAINST UN-AMERICAN BENEDICT ARNOLDS!

A Busy And Eventful Day...Let's Do The Headlines!

Today was a very busy day in current events. Immigration and conflict in Lebanon dominated. Let's just do some of the interesting headlines.

IMMIGRATION

Senate votes 69-23 to continue discussion on the "comprehensive immigration" issue.

AMERICAN GRASSROOTS POWER IS WORKING! Senate will wait until June to vote on immigration. Fingers doing the walking is working. Keep punching those numbers and keep the Senate switchboard on fire! Those trying hard to push this legislation wanted to ram it down the throat of the Senate before the Memorial Day recess. WE GOT 'EM CAVING FOLKS!

JOBS AMERICANS WILL DO! The meatpacking firm Swift & Company is back to full staffing levels again. This is the company that was raided and had 950 undocumented workers arrested on December 12, 2006. Who did they hire in place of the illegals? Need a hint? Try this...the answer is the workers that supposedly couldn't do those jobs.

Republican crowds in South Carolina cheered former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney's stance on the immigration compromise. At the same time, they booed native son Senator Lindsey Graham on his part of the sellout of America.

Also booed, Georgia Senator Saxby Chambliss at the Georgia state GOP convention. Chambliss had a part in the sellout of America, as well. At the convention, former Tennessee Senator Fred Thompson was the overwhelming favorite in a straw poll for the 2008 Republican nomination for President. Thompson took 44 percent of the vote, while the Peach State's own Newt Gingrich took second with 18 percent of the vote.

LEBANON

Lebanon takes a stand against Al-Qaida in Tripoli. As a result, at least 50 of those combating were killed, along with an unknown amount of civilians. Two bombings in Beirut, including one at an office building, were part of the bloodshed as well.

GONE-ZALES?

RINO (Republican In Name Only) Pennsylvania Senator Arlen Specter foresees Attorney General Alberto Gonzales stepping down, possibly this week.

2008

Democratic New Mexico Governor Bill Richardson made it official today. He will run for the Presidency of the United States in 2008.

Florida will become an even more powerful force in the campaign, as Republican Governor Charlie Crist signed a bill to move the state's primary up to January 29. That is after only Iowa, Nevada, and New Hampshire vote and it is on the same day as the South Carolina vote. It is a week before the February 5th National Primary Day.

A DARK DAY FOR AMERICA!

Associated Press Photo
Traitors in the photo:

Georgia Senator Saxby Chambliss (R)
Georgia Senator Johnny Isakson (R)
(sitting) Massachusetts Senator Edward Kennedy (D)
Today the U.S. Senate announced a "bi-partisan compromise" on illegal immigration. In a nutshell, it doesn't allow a trigger for financing of border defense, while it allows citizenship and amnesty for millions of lawbreaking illegal immigrants. IT WOULD BE A HUGE BLOW TO THE STOMACH OF AMERICA! A BLOW THAT WOULD KNOCK THE WIND OUT OF OUR BELOVED COUNTRY!
President George W. Bush and the White House are prasing this betrayal of America. The Democrats on the whole are staunch supporters of this tragic act. Worse yet, so are leading Republicans!
Here are the Republicans that I know of that need to hear the voice of the people. THEY NEED TO BE OPPOSED, HOPEFULLY IN A PRIMARY, AND NEED TO BE FIRED FROM THEIR JOBS IN THE SENATE BY THE PEOPLE!
~Jon Kyl, Arizona
~John McCain, Arizona
~Mel Martinez, Florida
~Saxby Chambliss, Georgia
~Johnny Isakson, Georgia
~Arlen Specter, Pennsylvania
~Lindsey Graham, South Carolina
I DON'T NEED TO WRITE THE DETAILS OF THIS ANTI-AMERICAN ACT. I CERTAINLY WON'T LINK TO THE MAINSTREAM PRESS ARTICLES. FROM THE FEW I HAVE SEEN, THEY SUGARCOAT THE TRAGEDY ALL OVER!
I WILL LINK TO A FEW SITES THAT TELL THE TRUTH OF TODAY'S, AND RELATED EVENTS.
A TRUE AMERICAN IN THE SENATE - JIM DeMINT (R) OF SOUTH CAROLINA - CALLS THE BILL AMNESTY. READ HIS PRESS RELEASE HERE!
From the EagleForum, here again is some good reasons why illegal immigration and amnesty is NOT good for America:
"Immigration touches every aspect of American lives. Tell your Senators you oppose any guest-worker/amnesty bill because it affects every aspect of your life including:
~Fiscal Responsibility: This bill will likely be the largest expansion of entitlement spending in Congress. Tax increases will be required to pay for services for the massive influx of unskilled and uneducated immigrants.
~National Security: Fraud will be rampant in any amnesty, as it was in the 1986 amnesty. How will any illegal alien prove they are who they say they are? We could be giving legal status, and potentially U.S. citizenship to those who wish to do harm to our country, including gang members who terrorize our neighborhoods.
~Healthcare: Hospitals are already overburdened with illegal aliens who use their services for routine treatment. Legalizing them will not alleviate the burden because many illegal aliens will be low-skilled workers and not have health insurance. Next step-national health insurance . . . Hillary-care anyone?
~Education: Classrooms are already overcrowded and bilingual education continues to be a failure. How can adding more pressure to the system be the answer? Local property taxes would be forced higher to pay for new schools, as well.
~Political Fallout: This bill will ensure the Republican Party becomes a permanent minority party because most illegal aliens will vote for the party of the welfare state-Democrats. All American lose when we are relegated to a permanent one party system."
TAKE ACTION NOW!
~Call Your U.S. Senators and Congressmen. Let them know that you don't support the sellout of America! You can find the websites and the numbers for your Senators right here. Here is the list of Congressmen by state. Find yours, visit his website, find his number, and give him a ring.
~Call the talk-radio host of your choice. Let millions listening know that America is too precious to fall to the graveyard of nations!
~Write to your newspaper's editorial section to let readers know why you don't want America to become a third-world country.
~Stay informed on the latest developments.
~Although you can't vote now, be sure to register, and then vote in the next election. Only vote for candidates who will continue to defend America and the
Constitution!
IT IS NOT TOO LATE TO STOP THIS NONSENSE! THIS BILL HAS NOT EVEN COME TO VOTE YET. JOIN US AS WE WORK ON THE GRASSROOTS SIDE TO HELP PRESERVE AMERICA!
GOD BLESS AMERICA, AND OUR EFFORTS TO HELP KEEP HER AS THE SHINING, LAWBIDING, CITY ON A HILL!

Here's Another Great Statesman From Pennsylvania!

Louis J. Barletta, Mayor of Hazelton, Pennsylvania
Now here is the kind of leader we need more of in America! Mayor Lou Barletta of Hazelton, Pennsylvania. Yes, that name should sound familiar...he is the man that Lou Dobbs is encouraging on CNN, while most other press organizations are treating him as un-American and a "racist".
He is the mayor that is upholding his duty and treating illegal immigration and undocumented people in his city as...GASP...illegal. That makes him America's mayor (sorry, Rudy).
I contacted his office minutes ago and offered him my support in the hard times he is facing from people in influence, particularly from the press. He is planning to seek re-election to his office of mayor in Hazelton. I now endorse him, and to make it official, I will announce my endorsement in my column on the right section of this blog under "2007 Endorsements". In my contact to him, I told him he should maybe seek the Governor's Mansion in Pennsylvania in the future.
I urge all reading to give your support to Mayor Barletta. Be sure to keep him, his family, and his supporters in your prayers. He certainly needs it during this rough emotional and physical time for him. He certainly deserves it as well!
