All the above is only the more visible signs of a quickly-deteriorating state. People are moving out of Michigan by the tens-of-thousands, only to be replaced by a growing, and more influential, Muslim population, which is a culture that is anti-West.
So, now comes the next question - Who is supposedly steering the ship through all of this. A more proper thought, who is steering the ship away from progress and prosperity? Why, who would have thought, the Democratic Party.
Detroit, as we all know, has been controlled by Democrats for decades. On top of that, Governor Jennifer Granholm is a Democrat, and in both chambers of the state legislature, Democrats have the power.
What has their solution been for the state? If you guessed higher taxes, you are correct. It appears that Gov. Granholm likes her tax hikes. What does she fault with the Michigan Situation? Everyone else, as usual. She blames the national sub-prime mortgage situation, and higher energy prices for what is going on in her state, instead of looking at the sheer ineptitude of her's, and her party's, policies. Meanwhile, another downright troubling situation is building. As the exodus continues of Michigan's traditional residents, thousands of Muslims are settling in. One city that has been radically transformed by this is Dearborn, or Dearbornistan, as some are calling it. Regardless of what the politically-correct crowd would have you believe, this kind of mass change from one culture to another is never good for a society, no matter how peaceful the newcomers are. That being said, many Muslims are not a peaceful people, and you can be sure that the unpeaceful ones are hiding in the shadows in Dearbornistan.
What does all of this mean for the rest of us? Well, if we allow Democrats to take full control of our federal government and our state governments, we are in some serious trouble. The socialist liberal philosophy of bigger government, higher taxes, and radical multiculturalism tolerance, while letting traditional American values subside, would create a vast, destructive cesspool to descend upon our great country.
On a political note, what does all this mean in future public office races. On the 2008 Presidential level, Michigan could be ripe for a Republican takeover. As thousands of traditional residents flee from Detroit and her suburbs, the more conservative western and northern parts of Michigan become more influential in a state that is usually a toss-up. In 2010, Governor Granholm will be term-limited, leaving the state's governor's mansion of for grabs. Popular rocker Ted Nugent is among the Republicans looking at a run, and regardless of who the GOP picks, they could have a solid shot. If conservatives are able to take back Michigan, the lesson then become one of seeing how the conservative philosophy best leads a society.
